What are Apoquel Tablets?
Apoquel is a prescription medication for dogs that helps control itching from allergies and other skin conditions. Apoquel works by blocking cytokines, the source of itching and inflammation in the body. This medication does not contain a steroid or antihistamine, and provides fast and lasting relief. Apoquel may begin working in as little as four hours and fully control itching within 24 hours.


Why do dogs use Apoquel?
Apoquel may be prescribed by your dog’s veterinarian to control short term or long term itching and inflammation from dermatitis, environmental allergies, food allergies, fleas, or other irritants.


What else should I know about Apoquel?
Indicated to control itching associated with allergic and other skin disorders.
Contains oclacitinib, a drug that suppresses the immune system. Not a corticosteroid or antihistamine. May control itching within 24 hrs. Apoquel should be stored at controlled room temperature between 20° to 25°C with excursions between 15° to 40°C.


What problems could my dog have with Apoquel?
The most common side effects are vomiting, diarrhoea, lack of appetite, increased thirst, and lethargy.
Because Apoquel suppresses the immune system, serious side effects such as infections are possible. Contact your veterinarian if you notice any changes that concern you after starting to give Apoquel.


How do you use Apoquel?
Follow the directions given by your veterinarian.
Wash your hands immediately after handling the medication.
Your veterinarian may modify the dose after the first couple weeks of treatment.


What is in Apoquel?
The drug in Apoquel is Oclacitinib, an immunosuppressant that helps control itching associated with allergic and other skin disorders. Oclacitinib is not a corticosteroid or antihistamine.
