What is Metacam?
Metacam is a prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders.


Why do pets use Metacam?
If your dog or cat has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis or suffers from joint pain, your veterinarian may prescribe an NSAID such as Meloxicam to reduce the associated pain and inflammation.


What else should I know about Metacam?
Reduces joint pain and inflammation. Can be mixed with food or given into the mouth.
Your veterinarian may ask for routine blood tests to check for liver and kidney side effects. These follow-ups are very important.


What problems could my dog or cat have with Metacam?
Serious, but rare, side effects of Metacam include ulcers and liver or kidney problems. These are more likely in cats. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you notice symptoms such as eating less than normal, vomiting, changes in bowel movements, changes in behaviour or activity, weakness, seizures, aggression, jaundice, changes in drinking, or changes in urination. Store Metacam out of reach of children and other pets.


How do you use Metacam?
Metacam should be given with food. Follow your veterinarian's directions.
The tablets are chewable and can be mixed with food or given into the mouth.

The active ingredient in Metacam is Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
