Commonly asked questions about Ursosan:
What are Ursosan Capsules?
Ursosan is a prescription medication that contains the naturally occurring bile acid, Ursodeoxycholic Acid. Ursosan works by dissolving cholesterol, preventing cholesterol absorption in the intestines, and preventing the production of cholesterol in the liver. This decreases the formation of gallstones. Ursosan also helps reduce excess levels of bile acids that may be harmful to the liver.
Why do cats and dogs use Ursosan?
Your veterinarian may prescribe Ursosan if your pet has been diagnosed with cholesterol-containing gallstones, chronic liver disease, or a similar condition.
Ursosan may also be prescribed to help reduce inflammation associated with the gall bladder.
What else should I know about Ursosan?
Ursosan should not be given to rabbits, guinea pigs, or rodents.
What problems could my dog or cat have with Ursosan?
One common, but not usually serious, side effect is diarrhoea.
How do you use Ursosan?
Ursosan works best when given with food. Follow your veterinarian's directions.
